Qatar Airways picks up awards from two key airports for Best On-Time Performance

Multi-award winning airline wins in Dubai and Seoul; Double win adds to Qatar Airways recent “World’s Most Dependable Airline” award.

DOHA, QATAR – Qatar Airways has picked up two awards from two major global airports for its best On-Time Performance (OTP) during the year 2014.

Dubai Airports which owns and manages Dubai International Airport (DXB), awarded Qatar Airways a Gold award for its 84.3% on-time performance average in the “over 2,000 movements” category.

The award was received on behalf of Qatar Airways by the airline’s Airport Service Manager for Dubai, Chehade Saad. The award ceremony held at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City Hotel was attended by high aviation dignitaries of the UAE and also representatives of various international airlines that operate to and from Dubai.

Qatar Airways has also been awarded for its on-time performance in Seoul, South Korea, by Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) which recently held the ‘Incheon Airport 2014 Airline Awards’. The IIAC selected airlines based on their on-time percentage, check-in waiting time, baggage handling, passenger survey for services, level of contribution to the airport’s growth, and passenger percentage.

Qatar Airways competed with nearly 20 other carriers and won the Best Airline of the Year Award in the group of over 200,000 passengers carried in 2014. The airline’s Airport Service Manager for Seoul (ICN), Baek-Jae Kim collected the award on behalf of Qatar Airways at an award ceremony organised at Incheon International Airport.

“These two awards are a direct testament to Qatar Airways’ ongoing commitment to meet the needs of our passengers and to ensure that they receive a seamless travel experience,” said the airline’s Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker. “On-time performance is a critical factor considered by passengers while selecting which airline to fly with and Qatar Airways has always prioritised this throughout the last 18 years of our operations.”

Qatar Airways has won multiple awards recently including being named “World’s Most Dependable Airline” in a comprehensive study of all major carriers, published by CBS MoneyWatch and conducted by recognised travel site, WanderBat. Qatar Airways was chosen to lead a select list of 22 international airlines based on on-time percentage, low cost to check bags, and average age of its airline fleet.

Renowned for its signature five-star hospitality, Qatar Airways also offers passengers an exceptional inflight experience. Awarded Best Business Class for two consecutive years by industry audit Skytrax, and Airline of the Year in 2011 and 2012, the airline provides a premium travel experience for passengers combined with supreme luxury and exceptional service.

Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 18 years of operation, to the point where today it is flying a modern fleet of 156 aircraft to 146 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.
