Ramón Miró will assume the role of new President and CEO of Quiport as of June 1, 2021.
The Board of Directors expressed its deep gratitude to Andrew O’Brian for his leadership throughout the past nine years in the Quito International Airport project, of which eight have been as President and CEO.
Quito – Corporación Quiport’s Board of Directors announced an important change in the leadership of the concession company of the airport service of Quito. Andrew O'Brian, current President and CEO of Quiport, presented his resignation in past days to the group of shareholders, made up of Odinsa from Colombia, CCR from Brazil and HAS-Development Corporation (HAS-DC) from the United States. Ramón Miró, who has held the presidency of HAS-DC in the city of Houston, will assume the role of new President and CEO of Quiport as of June 1, 2021.
The Board of Directors expressed its deep gratitude to Andrew O'Brian for his leadership throughout the past nine years in the Quito International Airport project, of which eight have been as President and CEO.
On behalf of the shareholders and employees of Quiport, Cristiane Gomes and Andrés Ortega, members of the company's Board of Directors, stated, “Andrew O ́Brian always exhibited absolute clarity regarding his objectives and was able to successfully lead the company, always demonstrating, in addition to his professional capacity, his innate talent for human relations at all levels. We wish him the best in the new professional stage that he has decided to follow”. In addition, they explained the reasons that motivated the appointment of Ramón Miró: “Ramón is a professional with extensive experience who has been part of the Board of Directors and knows the company and the project profoundly. For our part, we will give him all the support and confidence necessary to start his management on the right foot”.
Ramón Miró, Quiport’s next President and CEO, comes from presiding over HAS-DC, a pioneering US company in airport investment and consulting in Latin America and an affiliate of Houston Airport System, the company that manages the three airports in that
city.
Mr. Miró is a US citizen, born in El Salvador. He has been involved for more than 15 years in airport concessions, such as the Quito International Airport, Ecuador and the Juan Santamaría Airport in San José, Costa Rica, two of the most prized airports in the Americas. He was initially involved in prospects on a global level, including countries like the Philippines, Indonesia and Croatia, for example. Since 2017 he has participated in the Quiport Board of Directors and in different committees and he has been a great admirer of the performance and the many accomplishments and accolades that Quiport has garnered.
After the announcement of his appointment, Ramón Miró stated that he arrives with great enthusiasm, very committed to working for Quiport and for the Quito airport. “It is an honor to assume this position; I thank the shareholders of Quiport for their confidence in my capabilities and I want to tell the people of Quito and Ecuador that I will maintain the management line that has taken the airport to preeminent roles on an international scale, as a mark of pride for this wonderful country and its people, ever seeking new heights to aim for. I thank Andrew O'Brian for the great legacy he leaves and I wish him well in the future,” he closed.
Ramón Miró studied engineering at Trinity University (San Antonio, Texas), has a master's degree in Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management (Northwestern University) and obtained the “International Airport Professional” certification (IAP; 2013), awarded after have completed the “Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program” (AMPAP), offered jointly by the Airports Council International (ACI) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which is the governing body of civil aviation on a global scale.
