Record attendance at International Pow Wow 2013

According to the U.S. Travel Association, the event was expected to generate an estimated $3.5 billion in travel to the United States over the next three years and at least $350 million in future economic impact for the host city — Las Vegas.

The U.S. Travel Association has announced record attendance at International Pow Wow (IPW) 2013 which took place 8-12 June in Las Vegas.

“After a dip during the recent recession, America’s travel industry is back with great strength,” U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow said in a statement. “IPW has experienced double-digit growth over the last three years, and literally billions of dollars in deals are being signed this week with tour operators that will bring more international visitors into the United States.”

An international tourism marketplace designed to generate domestic and international tourism to the United States, IPW attracted nearly 6,400 total delegates from the United States and 70 other countries, including 1,300 international and domestic buyers – tour operators that sell travel to the United States – and nearly 500 media.

Future Host Cities
The impact on host cities makes IPW a highly coveted event for U.S. destinations, according to the U.S. Travel Association, which has announced the following seven future IPW host cities:

  • Chicago: 2014 (last hosted in 1998)
  • Orlando: 2015 (last hosted in 2010)
  • Miami: 2016 (last hosted in 2009)
  • Washington, D.C.: 2017 (first-time host)
  • Denver: 2018 (last hosted in 1991)
  • Anaheim, Calif.: 2019 (last hosted in 2007)
  • Las Vegas: 2020 (the 2013 host).
