Rev and Westpac experience early success with new travel Visa Prepaid Card

Global Currency Card offering 11 currency options with real-time exchange via Smartphone applications becomes a hit with Australian travelers.

AUSTIN, TEXAS and SYDNEY – Rev Worldwide, a payment innovations company, and the Westpac Group, Australia’s largest retail bank serving over 12 million customers, released today an update on their new Westpac Global Currency Card product, a multi-currency reloadable Visa prepaid card aimed at travelers and online shoppers. The card gives customers the ability to lock in favorable exchange rates before they travel and make payments in multiple currencies either in person or online, wherever Visa cards are accepted.

The Global Currency Card is now available at over 650 Westpac branch locations throughout Australia, to both existing and non-existing Westpac customers. The card has built-in features specially designed to give customers convenient and secure access to funds – with a variety of currencies available to ensure customers feel like locals as they travel and shop online.

With a full rollout completed and just a few months in market selling across the Westpac retail network, the product has surpassed launch expectations with load volumes surpassing the 9 figure mark and the average number of customers exceeding expectations.

The Global Currency Card simplifies the payment experience for travelers by allowing them to lock in currencies before or during travel, with an option to manage up to 5 currencies from up to 11 currencies, including Australian Dollars, Hong Kong Dollars, Singapore Dollars, U.S. Dollars, Canadian Dollars, New Zealand Dollars, Great British Pounds, Euros, South African Rand, Thai Baht, and Japanese Yen.

Travelers can access their Global Currency Card account online or by downloading the Global Currency mobile application, available for iOS and Android users. With the click of a mouse or the touch of a finger, funds can be safely and quickly converted and transferred.

The Westpac Global Currency Card offers:

  • Card accepted worldwide anywhere Visa prepaid cards are accepted.
  • Access to ATMs worldwide where Visa prepaid cards are accepted.
  • Card may be reloaded in-branch or via BPAY.
