Revealed: the best of 2022’s trending sustainable holiday destinations

Of the 20 locations they explored, the bottom five were Goreme in Turkey, Tulum in Mexico, Sint Maarten in the Caribbean, Paraty in Brazil and finally Arusha in Tanzania.

DiscoverCars.com have explored a number of ranking factors in order to discover which of 2022's trending holiday destinations are the most sustainable. DiscoverCars.com took all these factors into account and assigned each location a number out of 100. They also ranked the destinations by how many points they received to help you make the most informed decision for your next trip. The top five destinations were:

The Greek island of Rhodes scored 67 points out of 100:

  • Number of vegan restaurants: 495
  • Number of nature spots: 73

Ibiza, which is one of the Balearic islands, scored 64 out of 100 points:

  • Climate Impact (Round flight) KG Co2: 656
  • Hotels With EV Charging Points: 2
  • Number of vegan restaurants: 415 
  • Number of nature spots: 71
  • Pollution level: Low

Majorca in the Mediterranean scored 63 out of 100 points:

Santorini, which is one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea, scored 63 out of 100 points:

  • Hotels With EV Charging Points: 1
  • Number of Vegan Restaurants: 343
  • Number of Nature Spots: 32
  • Pollution Level: Low

Dubrovnik, a city located in southern Croatia overlooking the Adriatic Sea scored 60 out of 100 points:

  • Closest Airport: Dubrovnik Airport
  • Climate Impact (Round flight) KG Co2: 685
  • Hotels With EV Charging Points: 3
  • Number of Vegan Restaurants: 127
  • Number of Nature Spots: 32
  • Pollution Level: Low
