Revealed: The capital city with the most culture

A recent study by storage site Luggage Hero has revealed which capital city offers the best cultural experience for travellers. 

Taking the Top 20 cities with the most international visitors, Luggage Hero scored each based on numerous culture factors, including things to do, number of visitors and size to crown the Most Cultural City in the World

The key points of the study:

  • Tokyo is the most cultural city around the world. 
  • City with the least culture per Km² named as New York City 
  • Antalya offers the most culture per international visitor 
  • New York City and London are the top foodie destinations
  • London ranked the No. 1 city for entertainment  
  • Tokyo is the best city for education
  • Tokyo and Bali have the most green spaces

  • Tokyo, known around the world for bright lights and anime, has been named as the cultural hub of the world, followed by Paris, London and New York City. 

Tokyo was awarded the most cultural city with a score of 8,805, and came out on top for the number of Sights & Landmarks, Museums, Nature & Parks, Art Galleries and Sacred & Religious Sites – proving that its an all-round cultural experience!

  • Paris, Barcelona and Milan were found to be the top three cities with the most culture per Km², making them the perfect weekend away location! 

Paris: with a score of 39.91, Paris is the ideal city break location to give you a snapshot of culture in a short period of time.  
Barcelona: ranking second with a score of 13.03, Barcelona has tons of attractions for a long weekend break. 
Milan: with a score of 8.14 the compact city is full of things to explore if you haven’t got much time.

Makkah in Saudi Arabia came in second with a score of 85,470, followed by the popular holiday destination Palma de Mallorca. Each of these cities have plenty of culture to go around!

Of the cities featured in the study, New York City comes out on top with 569 food attractions, making the Big Apple the top city for those looking for a culinary adventure. 

It comes as no surprise that London ranked second with 425 foodie attractions, followed by Paris and Bangkok. These top food destinations are recognised for their unique culinary culture around the world!

Bali followed with a score of 315 which is no surprise – Bali is known for its stunning scenery.

Singapore was revealed as the city with the most Nature and Parks per international visitor, with a score of 105,539.57 followed by New York City with a score of 104,615.38.
