SANCB, part of South Africa Tourism, was formed in 2012 with the task of growing the business events sector in South Africa.

MELBOURNE – The South Africa National Convention Bureau (SANCB) has announced the appointment of GainingEdge as its sales representative company for the European and Asian markets.

SANCB, part of South Africa Tourism, was formed in 2012 with the task of growing the business events sector in South Africa. It is the nation’s “one- stop” source of information, advice and assistance when it comes to hosting business events in South Africa.

Speaking recently in front of a group of international journalists at EIBTM in Barcelona, SAT CEO Tulani Nzima said: “We are committed to improving South Africa’s ability to attract large international business events. The appointment of GainingEdge, a world renowned consulting and sales representation firm, underscores SANCB’s strategy to increase its market share of the world’s meetings, incentives and convention business.”

Gary Grimmer, CEO of GainingEdge added that South Africa has the proven capability, capacity, and an impressive track record when it comes to the successful hosting of major international business events and incentives: “The world’s attention is shifting to Africa. There is no question that the meeting, convention and exhibition business will be growing exponentially there, and South Africa represents the most experienced, sophisticated and convenient staging place. South Africa National Convention Bureau’s new campaign slogan is ‘Rise With Us’ and we are thrilled that we get to contribute to that story of growth and success.”

The GainingEdge team in Europe will be headed up by Bruce Redor, Senior Associate, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and will be comprised of Molly Doheny, formerly the Head of the Glasgow Convention Bureau who will handle the International Association market, and Delphine Benbassa Fortuin, formerly  Director of the Paris Convention Bureau, who will be responsible for the Corporate and Incentive Market. Bruce Redor said: “We have been fortunate to be able to put together a team made up of some the world’s most experienced and connected MICE professionals to work on sales and marketing for South Africa in Europe”.
