Scenic releases 2023/24 Antarctica season details

Scenic Eclipse.

Scenic’s Antarctica takes sales lead on list of ultra-luxury bucket list itineraries.

HOLLYWOOD, FL. – Truly all-inclusive cruise line Scenic is seeing a 100% global increase for year-over-year bookings to Antarctica on board it’s ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht, Scenic Eclipse. And the significant spike in demand for these unique journeys to the white continent are showing no signs of slowing down either, with last month’s (January 2022) bookings up a further 27% from last year. This leaves only limited availability remaining for 2022/2023 sailings. Much of this success can be attributed to the news of Scenic’s successful January 2022 return to Antarctic waters – as one of the first (and few) major cruise lines to make it possible – and the very positive response the line is seeing from its guests.

Due to this demand, and as part of their biggest ever destination release, Scenic has unveiled its full 2023/2024 Antarctica and South America Voyages & Land Journeys collection as the first in a series of extraordinary destination brochures. The ultra-luxury program includes details of the company’s second yacht, Scenic Eclipse II, which will double Scenic’s capacity in the Polar regions. A truly remarkable and rare sight will take place when both Discovery Yachts meet for the first time when sailing in Antarctica in December 2023.

New possibilities take the news lead for the 2023/2024 season, with the biggest highlight the introduction of brand-new Antarctica fly-cruise itineraries. Although Scenic’s Discovery Yachts customized design provides a smooth journey for guests on their unique voyage across the Drake Passage, some guests may prefer to avoid the two days at sea – either because of time constraints or just to avoid the passage. The nine- or 10-day fly-cruise journey begins (or ends) in Punta Arenas (Chile) with a two-hour flight to/from King George Island. From there, guests join one of the Discovery Yachts and begin their exploration of Antarctica and its maze of protected channels, with expert assistance from Scenic's dedicated 20-plus member Discovery Team. Guests can glide in a kayak or stand-up paddleboard around the towering icebergs, and seals lounging on ice floes, while Zodiacs and landings showcase the penguins, seals and whales thriving in their natural habitat, one of the most undisturbed and protected regions on Earth.

The also-new 16-day Beyond the Antarctic Circle voyage combines the splendor of the Antarctic Peninsula with a journey that seeks to reach latitude 66° 33’ south (and beyond). Taking pride in venturing where few people have explored before by crossing the Antarctic Circle and witnessing dramatic changes in the landscape, such as an increase in sea ice, and wildlife living off the krill-rich waters.

With a Polar Class 6 rating and no more than 200 guests on board in the polar regions, Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Eclipse II offer unrivaled cruising experiences, taking guests on an ultra-luxury expedition voyage in ultimate comfort. The yachts’ strengthened hull and custom-built oversized stabilizers allow the Discovery Yachts to cross the Drake Passage more smoothly and quickly than other vessels of its size. Both yachts have been designed to provide easy access to the most remote and remarkable landing sites in the region, including full access in South Georgia as the first commercial operator to undertake submarine dives in its waters. With its on board fleet of Zodiacs, two luxury helicopters and a six- or eight-guest submarine, a voyage on either of these industry-leading Discovery Yachts is sure to provide extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime memories.

All Scenic Eclipse voyages are truly all-inclusive, including return flights, transfers, up to 10 fine dining experiences, premium branded beverages, all gratuities, use of the ESPA Spa and once-in-a-lifetime immersive excursions.

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has grown over its 36-year history to include award-winning, truly all-inclusive river and ocean cruises and handcrafted land tours that take participants to many of the world’s most fascinating destinations. In 2019, Scenic introduced Scenic Eclipse, The World’s First Discovery Yacht. Hosting just 228 guests (200 in polar regions), the yacht offers a 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio, butler service, 10 dining experiences, a 5,920 ft² luxury spa, yoga and Pilates studio, vitality pools and bars, two state-of-the-art helicopters, a six-guest submarine and, an expert Discovery Team. Offering an extraordinary ultra-luxury, truly all-inclusive experience for guests at destinations throughout the world. A second yacht, Scenic Eclipse II, is planned to launch in 2023. Scenic is part of Scenic Group, which includes Emerald Cruises, Mayflower Cruises & Tours and Evergreen Tours.
