Social media may make us more adventurous travelers and eaters, according to new study

Three in four Millennials have tried new food because of social media, as have over 60% of Gen Xers and 50% of Baby Boomers.

DIRECTCBD wanted to know, how much are we traveling and how often are we trying out new experiences? They asked over 400 U.S. and over 400 European respondents. Here are some findings.

  • 1 in 10 people said social media influencers encouraged them to have a new experience last year, like trying new food or traveling. 2 in 3 people have tried a new recipe because of social media, and millennials are most likely to do so
  • 3 in 4 Millennials have tried new food because of social media, as have over 60% of Gen Xers and 50% of Baby Boomers.
  • Bucket List inspiration? 1 in 4 Baby Boomers have traveled somewhere because they were influenced by social media, and so have over 40% of Gen Xers and Millennials. Gen X is the most likely to travel somewhere they saw on social media.

The results also found that 63% of respondents said they’d be unsatisfied with life if they didn’t travel at least once per year.
