Stonebridge Country Club In Boca Raton debuts its newly renovated golf course

Besides offering its members an outstanding golf course, Stonebridge Country Club also joins a significant trend in golf course management to create more naturalistic landscapes.

BOCA RATON, FLA. – Stonebridge Country Club of Boca Raton, FL celebrated the opening of its newly renovated golf course on December 12, 2015. After almost 2 years of planning and 10 months of construction, the newly designed course is now open for play. According to Dr. Jack Malvin, Golf and Greens committee chairman and project manager, “We are very excited to finally have completed this project. Stonebridge Country Club’s goal was to preserve the unique layout of the golf course, originally designed by Carl Litten, while also making it playable for golfers at every level. Designer Kipp Shulties took over this assignment and we can proudly say that he has come through for us in a big way.”

The weekend was full of fun, great golf and many surprises. Tom Cleaver, PGA member and Director of Golf said “We have always been very proud of the golf program here at Stonebridge and we have always maintained in the Boca community a big presence with our golf program. As an example, Stonebridge recently defended its Boca Cup dominance with its third win of the Boca Cup in the past 4 years.”

Besides offering its members an outstanding golf course, Stonebridge Country Club also joins a significant trend in golf course management to create more naturalistic landscapes. Not only are these areas beneficial to wildlife, but they are also often very cost-effective in the long-run. Once established, naturalistic golf courses can be maintained with far less effort than conventional golf courses, requiring smaller quantities of pesticides, herbicides, and water. “We are really pleased that we have reduced our carbon footprint and environmental impact on the local area with many of these changes to the golf course” adds Malvin. Kip Shulties of Golf Design Inc., who designed the new Stonebridge course, notes that the redesign “will provide golfers with a course that is more in harmony with nature, and, more enjoyable and playable for every level of golfer.”
