Tap in to London’s 10 coolest neighbourhoods

SilkFred’s new study reveals London’s trendiest locations. SilkFred crowns Covent Garden as the coolest location in London. The research analyses social media metrics, area contributions to fashion and total number of fashion stores nearby

Throughout London, each suburb of the capital is renowned for their different vibe and offerings; from the cosmopolitan district of Chelsea to the urban feels of Shoreditch. SilkFred have conducted their study to reveal London’s 10 Coolest Neighbourhoods by ranking the most stylish places against a number of metrics. Who will come out on top? The full piece reveals all.

Trio of Favourites: Cardinal Covent Garden, Classic Chelsea & Quirky Camden

  1. Covent Garden – Taking the top three positions of the SilkFred study are a trio of London favourites. Particularly popular with snap-happy tourists, Covent Garden is a must-see for visitors who want to explore the capital. Day-trippers should head straight to the Apple and East Colonnade Markets to browse the craft stalls before walking along the cobbled streets to Seven Dials; a historic landmark where seven roads lead to a small roundabout. With 133 fashion stores and accessible via the Piccadilly Line, Covent Garden is a clear winner of the coolest location crown.
  2. Chelsea – As one of the poshest postcodes to live in the country, Chelsea is another indisputable victor for a high ranking position in the coolest neighbourhoods list. With over 7 million Instagram posts under its belt and accessible via the District and Circle Lines, visitors of Chelsea can explore the Saatchi Gallery, go on a spending spree in the Duke of York Square or visit independent boutiques on King’s Road. For a breath of fresh air, one of the cities best-kept green secrets, Chelsea Physic Garden, is the perfect botanical space to unwind.
  3. Camden – Located in the North of the city, this historic neighbourhood is a favourite for artists, creatives and musicians. Camden is also perfect for foodies and fashionistas; take the Northern Line to Camden Town to explore the 18 fashion stores nearby and every vintage item in Camden Market. With almost 2 million shares on Instagram, this kooky area is home to plenty of photo opportunities.

Jump on These ‘Coolest’ Tube Lines to Explore the City
By noting the nearest tube station to each of these coolest neighbourhoods, SilkFred were able to work out the lines to travel on when checking out the locations. The research reveals that the Circle line is the ‘coolest’ line, making four appearances in the top 10 list including Chelsea (2nd), Marylebone (6th), Notting Hill (7th) and Kensington (8th).

Piccadilly, District, Northern, Jubilee, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and the London Overground all featured twice in the piece whereas the Bakerloo Line had just one mention with Marylebone (6th). Surprisingly, the Central, Victoria, DLR and Waterloo & City Lines didn’t place at all on the top 10 list.

Emma Watkinson, CEO & Co-Founder of SilkFred adds: “Celebrated as one of the most stylish cities in the world, it is exciting to see how our research commends Covent Garden as the coolest place in London. With over 44 million visitors arriving each year, we suggest grabbing your camera and capturing a photo on one of the iconic floral swings in the square.”

“London is a metropolis with many faces and regardless of what you like to explore, whether that’s wandering around markets or trying out local bars, the top 10 coolest locations have something for everyone.”
