tClara breaks new benchmarking ground with Air Clarity

tClara is marketing Air Clarity benchmarks to travel buyers and selected travel management companies and consulting firms.

CLEVELAND – tClara, a provider of benchmarks for travel leadership, will introduce Air Clarity, a corporate benchmarking tool incorporating ticketing data from Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC), at the ACTE conference in Dallas, April 18-19.

“Air Clarity benchmarks will be very different compared to those from a travel management company, for three big reasons,” said Scott Gillespie, CEO of tClara. “It leverages a huge data repository, uses better analytical methods, and provides much deeper insights.”

By leveraging the full scope of ARC’s airfare database to construct corporate benchmarks for every major ARC-based airline, Air Clarity will measure the price gaps in each one of a client’s city pairs, giving buyers an authoritative view of how their prices compare overall to other corporate buyers in exactly those markets. From there, it will be easy to compare price gap percentages with industry peers, regardless of where those peers travel.

Typical airfare benchmarks report, but can’t explain, the difference in average airfares. Air Clarity not only reveals the price gap, but also the underlying causes, namely the differences in ticket product features and the estimated impact of the client’s procurement efforts. These underlying benchmarks are the key to setting realistic savings goals and strategies.

Rich in context and credibility, Air Clarity reports are designed to quickly answer these central questions:

  • How do our airfare prices compare?
  • What caused our airfare prices to change over time?
  • Where can we get our travelers to save money?
  • How good are our airline contracts?
  • How well have we supported our major airlines?
  • How much did we save, or could we save – and where?

Priced affordably, Air Clarity will help travel buyers

  • Reduce the costs of third-party benchmarks and air sourcing projects
  • Improve the speed and quality of new findings and recommendations
  • Strengthen the credibility of even the most mature air programs

“Airlines look at ticket prices from all TMCs in a market, and so should the buyer,” said Gillespie. “No TMC can match ARC’s depth of ticket data in every market, so of course our benchmarks will be different – and better.”
