As lockdown measures are being lifted around the world, search trends are showing that we’re desperate to get back to our National Parks after lockdown (the term “are the national parks open” increased in search volume worldwide by 87% last week). 

Mainland Aggregates have collected Instagram data to reveal which of the world’s National Parks are the most beautiful according to the social media app. 

It's easy to see why these national parks are most shared on the social media app – they are bursting with natural beauty, guaranteed to take your breath away whether you’re visiting for a hike, a run or to get a selfie! As lockdown measures are being lifted around the world, search trends are showing that we’re desperate to get back to our National Parks after lockdown (the term “are the national parks open” increased in search volume worldwide by 87% last week). 

The national parks in Mainland Aggregates's list are ones everyone should try and visit in their lifetime. If you’re looking for inspiration for your first trip away after lockdown, one of the world’s most beautiful national parks could be perfect!

Key findings:

  • The world’s most beautiful national park is the Grand Canyon in the United States, which has been posted 3,648,494 times on the app (137% more times than the average national park).
  • The world’s 3rd most beautiful national park is the Lake District in the United Kingdom, which has been posted 2,571,048 times on the app (123% more times on Instagram than the average national park).
  • 37% of the 30 most beautiful national parks are situated in the United States.
  • 36% of the 30 most beautiful national parks are situated in Europe.
