HomeToGo releases annual affordability ranking of the top 50 amusement parks in the United States.
New York, NY – HomeToGo, the world’s largest vacation rental search engine, has launched into spring by revealing the results of its annual Theme Park Index. The ranking, which includes the 50 largest amusement parks in the United States, exposes the steep gradient that separates the nation’s most affordable and most expensive options.
Amusement parks in Oklahoma, Indiana, and Connecticut climb to the affordable peak of this year’s ranking, whereas world-renowned parks in Florida and California coast to the bottom. With such a steep drop separating the most affordable and most expensive parks, budget-savvy adrenaline junkies will benefit from steering clear of those popular tourist hotspots in favor of top regional theme parks.
In order to rank the theme parks based on price, four factors were researched:
- Parking
- Adult anyday 1-day ticket
- Meal deal
- Accommodation for one night
Park websites provided parking, ticket, and meal deal prices for this year*. HomeToGo used its own metasearch data to forecast the average cost of accommodation (per person per night) between April 6th and June 22nd. Frontier City accelerates to the top of this year’s ranking, while Universal Studios Hollywood places last for the second year in a row.

– When comparing this year’s ranking to last year’s, notable winners include The Park at OWA (costing $96.69 less this year), Hersheypark (costing $29.92 less this year) and Knott’s Berry Farm (costing $23.42 less this year).
– Notable losers include Six Flags Great Adventure (costing $82.68 more this year), Disney’s Hollywood Studios ($51.77 more this year), and Elitch Gardens (costing $50.43 more this year).
*All prices in USD. Research was conducted during March 2019. When any-day 1-day tickets were not available, we selected June 1, 2019 as our default advance date. For parks with no advance ticket information for 2019, we used prices from last year’s ranking. Online menus and customer service teams provided the meal deal prices in instances when they were not available on the park websites. Processing fees and taxes are not included.
