Top 10 most popular countries in the world to visit on holiday for 2022

The Maldives ranks first, with 2,457,000 total Google searches over the last 12 months. Known for its gorgeous beaches, luxurious resorts and virtually year-long summer weather, it’s no surprise that the Maldives is the most popular travel destination in the world.

New research has revealed the most popular countries people want to visit in the world. The research, conducted by Bounce, analysed Google searches for flights, hotels and vacations over the past 12 months to reveal the most popular travel destinations in the world

The Maldives ranks first, with 2,457,000 total Google searches over the last 12 months. Known for its gorgeous beaches, luxurious resorts and virtually year-long summer weather, it’s no surprise that the Maldives is the most popular travel destination in the world.

India ranks second with 1,478,300 total Google searches. Home to unique attractions such as the Taj Mahal, Golden Temple and yoga retreats, India is one of the world’s most popular travel destinations. Of the 1,478,300 total searches over the last 12 months – 1,052,000 searches were for flights to India.

Singapore rounds off the top 3, with 1,224,500 total searches (945,000 of which were for hotels). Known for its modern skyscrapers and world-class restaurants, Singapore draws in millions of visitors each year both for vacations. A large amount of travel is also for business trips to the trading and investment capital.

  • Las Vegas is the most popular destination for a city break, with 9,688,000 total Google searches for flights, hotels and holidays. Known for its wealth of attractions, hotels and casinos, it’s no surprise that Las Vegas is the most popular destination for a city break.
  • Other popular city break destinations for 2022 include New York, Miami and Dubai respectively.
