Toronto Pearson welcomes holiday travellers and provides travel tips

The winter break, between December 17, 2017 and January 7, 2018 represents a significant leisure travel peak, second only in passenger traffic to the busy summer travel season.

TORONTO – Nearly 2.7 million passengers will travel through Canada's largest airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport this holiday season. The busiest day for pre-holiday travel is December 21, with over 130,000 passengers travelling through the airport on their way to vacations and family visits.

With the halls decked in festive style and holiday tunes playing throughout the terminals, passengers can find services, expert tips and activities to ease travelling at this busy time:

Tips:

  • Travellers can start their trip off smoothly by reserving a parking spot and learning about special offers at airport garages before leaving home.
  • Save time in Security by packing light and leaving holiday gifts unwrapped in carry-on luggage, as all packages will be subject to inspection at security check points. Learn more about smart packing from the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority.

Services:

  • Need last minute banking before flying? Passengers can save time by banking at one of CIBC's airport banking centres and ATMs.
  • Tech-savvy travellers can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi in partnership with American Express and charge phones, tablets and other devices at before departing at complimentary Powerport Charging Stations.
  • Many of Toronto Pearson's shops and restaurants feature holiday deals and promotions for last minute shopping and dining so come early to shop and dine. Featured promotions include:
  • American Express Canada cardmembers spend $250 or more at a Duty Free location and receive a $50 credit on your statement
  • Toronto Pearson now offers MagnusCards, a free app created specifically for those living with autism that gives step-by-step instructions for common airport processes for the user.
  • As always, the volunteer Welcome Team is waiting to greet passengers and assist them in finding their way to their gate.

Activities:

  • In Terminal 3, Grey Goose's interactive French Alps-inspired lodge warms up Domestic- and International-departing passengers with samples, comfortable lodge seating and a giant snow globe photo station.
  • Departing passengers in Terminal 1 International can send a holiday card to a friend or loved one courtesy of CIBC and Toronto Pearson, on December 22 and 23 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
