Transaero Training Center celebrates its 20th anniversary

More than 21,000 specialists in commercial aviation have received basic training over the 20 years that the Center has been in operation.

MOSCOW – The Transaero Aviation Training Center has celebrated its 20th anniversary. The Center was set up in the spring of 1994, becoming the first independent training institution authorized to train civil aviation specialists. Its activities were licensed by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.

The Training Center has been growing and developing along with the airline. In 1994, there were just two training programmes: initial flight attendant training for Boeing-737-200 and Il-86 aircraft. In 1996, the Center already offered 15 types of training including flight crew training. In 1999, the Aviation Training Center became first in Russia to be certified to provide personnel training in the CIS and Baltic states. In 2001, the overall number of different types of training courses rose to 32 and in 2008, it increased to 84.

Currently, the Training Center has 137 types of training courses, professional development and additional training programmes for a wide range of aviation specialists including, pilots, flight attendants, engineers and technical personnel, aviation security personnel and many more types of training for ground handling specialists as well as foreign language courses.

More than 21,000 specialists in commercial aviation have received basic training over the 20 years that the Center has been in operation. This has been made possible thanks to the high professional level of teaching personnel at the Center. A large number of the instructors at the Center have been working for Transaero Airlines for many years and have extensive expertise in the subjects they teach. They are known not only for their professional skills but also as guardians of the airline’s traditions.

The aims of Transaero Aviation Training Center include:

  • Supplying qualified personnel for the airline;
  • Contributing to career and professional growth of the airline’s employees through additional training and professional development programmes.

The Transaero Aviation Training Center stands by its innovative approach to work. It strives to create unique training programmes in the industry and focuses on the latest achievements of the world aviation industry. Training aimed at all  categories of aviation specialists complies with the highest global standards and uses educational and testing software programmes as well as the Center’s own training guides. The Transaero Center’s innovative solutions in customer service also comprise communication psychology training, which includes interaction in extraordinary circumstances.

The Center always successfully passes all domestic and international audits carried out by aviation authorities.

In 2012, the Transaero Aviation Training Center received a three-year extension to its Certificate of Compliance with requirements of Russian aviation law.

In August of 2012, the Transaero Training Center successfully passed the EASA audit, proving its adherence to the requirements of the Agency.

The Center also has a Part-147 Maintenance Training Organization Certificate. This authorizes the Center to carry out independent training of engineers and technical personnel and maintenance and repair operations of Boeing aircraft, in line with EU Regulations and the standards set by the Russian and international aviation authorities.

In 2013, the Transaero Aviation Training Center developed a new testing system TELPASS, certified by the aviation authorities of the Russian Federation, which allows to efficiently evaluate the knowledge of the English language of flight crew members.

On September 1, 2013, the Transaero Training Center launched a unique Educational and Training Unit aimed at educating trainee pilots – graduates of flight schools. The course includes theoretical and practical training, supervision of pilots during their first flight and adaptation of new employees in the company. The course is carried out by experienced flight instructors and teachers.

The Transaero Training Center has made a significant contribution to the numerous prestigious awards the airline has received, including the HR Brand award recognizing Transaero as the Best Employee as well as the award of the All-Russian ranking Index of Leadership: Best Companies to Work for and for Career.
