Tokyo scored the highest for passengers’ feelings of safety, with over 97% of travelers feeling safe while waiting during a layover – American hubs Orlando, Charlotte, and Denver followed.
Bayut.com asked almost 1,000 people who’ve had a layover between international flights in the past year about their experience. From eating gourmet meals to shopping or even getting a full night’s sleep, we’ve discovered the best ways to pass the time – and the airports where time seems to fly.
Some highlights from the study:
- Tokyo scored the highest for passengers’ feelings of safety, with over 97% of travelers feeling safe while waiting during a layover – American hubs Orlando, Charlotte, and Denver followed
- Gate changes, large airports, and trouble getting off the 1st flight are some of the top reasons people miss their connecting flights – a delayed 1st flight is the top reason
- By far, the top layover activity was eating followed by shopping and reading books but almost 30% of travelers would visit the city if given the chance.
