UK provides training for Kenyan Aviation Security Inspectors

A team of Kenyan aviation security personnel from the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) successfully completed aviation security training in the UK.

LONDON – UK continues to support Kenyan Government efforts to counter terrorism at airports by providing ‘Aviation Security Inspectors’ training.

A team of Kenyan aviation security personnel from the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) successfully completed aviation security training in the UK.

The Kenyan team worked closely with senior UK Government Transport officials at Glasgow International Airport, to further their operational aviation security knowledge and to gain high level practical auditing/compliance experience of airport security processes.

All 5 Kenyan delegates passed the ‘Inspectors’ training with flying colours and the tips and best practices picked up by all will assist in strengthening National Quality Control Systems at Kenya’s airports.

Speaking during the training, a UK Government official noted, “Aviation security is another vital element in protecting all our citizens from acts of terrorism. Security is a priority for us all, so I am delighted that the UK Government continues to work closely with the KAA and the KCAA in order to further strengthen the existing aviation security regime in Kenya”.

In addition to this training, the UK Government has and continues to offer explosive trace detection machines and inert explosive training aids to the airports in Kenya.

Terrorism is a global threat and the UK Government is keen to continue its close working relationship with Kenya in order to help improve security in East Africa.
