Crystal Cruises` luxury ships have captured the top ratings for their categories in the newest edition of the Berlitz(R) Ocean Cruising & Cruise Ships 2004. For the eighth consecutive year, cruise ship authority author Douglas Ward has awarded the 940-guest Crystal Symphony and Crystal Harmony the highest ratings in their category (ships carrying between 500 and 1,000 passengers). The new 1,080-guest Crystal Serenity, which debuted in July 2003, was awarded the highest rating in its category (ships carrying over 1,000 passengers).

In the comprehensive guidebook, Ward states that the Crystal ships are best suited to sophisticated travelers that seek contemporary ship surroundings, with fine-quality fittings and furnishings, a wide range of public rooms and facilities, and excellent food and service from a well trained staff.

We are very pleased that Crystal Cruises` unique combination of quality, friendly and professional service, choices and spaciousness distinguished us in these competitive categories, says Gregg Michel, president, Crystal Cruises. Our ships` record ratings from our guests and industry critics continue to validate Crystal Cruises` winning formula.

For the 2004 edition, the Crystal ships were three of only 24 that achieved membership in Ward`s prestigious five-star club. Ward`s ratings are based on points allocated to the evaluation of the ships` hardware and maintenance, accommodation design, cuisine at all possible dining venues, service throughout, the overall entertainment and cruise experience, including the quality of the cruise as an overall vacation experience.

Recently, Crystal Cruises also won the 2003 best large-ship cruise line awards for an unprecedented eight years in a row from the readers of Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazines, as well as the 2003 World`s Top cruise line award from the readers of Departures magazine. Crystal Cruises` operates its luxury ships on worldwide itineraries ranging from seven to 106 days, including Alaska.
