Governor Jeb Bush announced that an estimated 23.3 million visitors came to Florida during the April-June period in 2005, according to preliminary estimates from VISIT FLORIDA, the state`s official source for travel planning. This reflects an increase of 7.5 percent over the same period last year or an increase of 1.6 million visitors.

While at the 38th Annual Governor`s Conference on Tourism at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Florida, Governor Bush declared his delight with the report by saying this is great news for Floridians.

The numbers released in today`s report are impressive, and certainly excellent economic news for Florida, said Governor Jeb Bush. Year after year, our state continues to set new records in visitations, thanks in large part to Florida`s talented and dedicated tourism industry and its workforce. Their commitment to hospitality and service has maximized the many destinations found in our beautiful state, and remains key in ensuring our friends from across the globe continue to visit us again and often.

Visit Florida reports that eleven of Florida`s 14 largest airports showed increases in enplanements in the second quarter this year. Preliminary estimates are issued 45 days after the end of each calendar quarter. Final estimates are released when final data are received for all estimates in the report.
