The second Resorts & Great Hotels` Private Meetings Summit will be held at The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Florida from October 27 to 29. The inaugural Summit was held at the Hotel del Coronado in January 2002 and was hailed a major success by all participants.

The Summit will once again bring the world`s leading luxury resorts and hotels together with meeting planners and senior executives from major corporations in order to conduct mutually beneficial short-term business.

The focus of the two-day Summit is for properties to book business over dates in which they anticipate low demand (through December 2003) by providing exceptional values to qualified clients and planners. While trade shows like ITME, MPI and most others offer a great backdrop to network, socialize and discuss future business opportunities, the Private Meetings Summit is all about doing business immediately, says Dan Fox, Publisher, Resorts & Great Hotels.

This innovative approach to the traditional trade show concept was born out of necessity due to current economic trends. What we found was that economic volatility from quarter to quarter compels many companies to wait until the last minute to book meetings and events, continues Fox.

As a result, the Private Meetings Summit was launched in January 2002 to give hotels and their clients the opportunity to network productively and directly. There are currently no effective venues for luxury properties to fill their short-term occupancy gaps, explains Fox. Providing such an opportunity creates a highly valued service to properties and prospective clients, allowing direct, one on one communication that occasionally gets lost in the translation when third parties and/or multiple decision makers participate in the process.

The Summit consists of a series of pre-planned 20-minute appointments and open schedules for impromptu meetings between properties and clients. There are also two receptions preceded by insightful keynote addresses from industry leaders and a golf tournament to tee off the event.

Based on the success of the first Summit, executives from the following resorts and hotels have already eagerly signed up to participate in the October event: Majestic Barriere; Atlantis, Paradise Island; Hotel del Coronado; The Breakers; The Westin Philadelphia; Le Meridien Tahiti; Le Meridien Bora Bora; Hotel Monaco Denver; Coeur d`Alene Resort; Topnotch at Stowe Resort & Spa; La Costa Resort & Spa; Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos; Copperwynd Resort & Spa; The Equinox, a Rockresort; Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino; Enchantment Resort; The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa; The Tides Inn Marina & Golden Eagle Golf Course; St. Kitts Marriott Royal Beach Resort; Inn on Biltmore Estate; The Mystic Marriott Resort & Spa; The Regent Schlosshotel Berlin; The Pan Pacific Vancouver; Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos; Marriott`s Camelback Inn Resort, Golf Club & Spa; Marriott Frenchman`s Reef & Morning Star Beach Resort; The Manele Bay Hotel; The Grand America Hotel; JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa.
