Airline to connect booming SF and Denver innovation economies with tech-forward flights.
SAN FRANCISCO – Virgin America, the Bay Area-based airline known for reinventing flying, is celebrating the launch of its new service from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Denver International Airport (DEN) with an “entrepreneurial” send-off hosted by Virgin Group’s ‘Trailblazer in Chief,’ Sir Richard Branson – with a short speaking program featuring Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, LinkedIn Vice President of Global Consumer Products Ryan Roslansky, Virgin America CEO David Cush and SFO leadership. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, Virgin America has grown a loyal following of flyers for its business-friendly and tech-forward flight experience – including being the first and still only U.S. carrier to offer fleetwide WiFi and power outlets at every seat. The Denver area, which has been dubbed “Silicon Mountain” because of its own booming innovation economy, is today the number one most requested destination by the airline’s corporate clients.
To kick off the new flights linking two of the nation’s top innovation economies, Virgin America will host a festive send-off of its first Denver-bound commercial flight from its sleek home at Terminal 2 at SFO and will convene a live-streamed discussion on the future of entrepreneurship onboard the SFO-DEN inaugural flight with Branson, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, LinkedIn VP of Global Consumer Products Ryan Roslansky, start-up founders and LinkedIn users worldwide via the airline’s high-speed WiFi – moderated by LinkedIn Executive Editor Dan Roth. Virgin America and LinkedIn will be announcing a larger partnership on March 15 – and travelers will be treated to a LinkedIn “Profile Makeover” where they can obtain tips and tricks to spruce up their LinkedIn profiles – including the right headshot – with makeup artists and photography provided compliments of LinkedIn at the Virgin America gate.
