Visit Dana Point names Ashton Smith Sales and Marketing Coordinator

Ashton Smith is a California native, born and raised in Santa Rosa, California who now resides in Southern California.

DANA POINT, CALIF. – Visit Dana Point, the destination marketing organization for Dana Point, California, has appointed Ashton Smith as Sales and Marketing Coordinator. In this role, Smith will be responsible for supporting the sales and marketing activities for the destination. She marks the newest addition to the team, which has grown from one to three full-time staff members since 2018.

Smith is a soon-to-be graduate from Chapman University with a degree in strategic and corporate communication. Prior to joining Visit Dana Point, she served in marketing internship roles at House of Blues and Visit Huntington Beach. 

“We’re thrilled to add Ashton to the Visit Dana Point team,” said Jonny Westom, executive director of Visit Dana Point. “Her go-getter attitude and previous experience with California destination marketing organizations will allow her to hit the ground running in our efforts to increase awareness for the destination.”

Smith is a California native, born and raised in Santa Rosa, California who now resides in Southern California. 

“It’s an exciting time to join the Visit Dana Point team as there is so much growth and revitalization happening within the destination,” Smith said. “I have always been drawn to Dana Point and its comfortable, welcoming vibe, and am excited to be able to share this with more people through our sales and marketing efforts.”

In her new role, Smith will play a large part in continuing the organization’s efforts to increase tourism. Tourism plays a key role in Dana Point’s economy. The recent “Economic Impact of Tourism in Orange County, California” study found that approximately 39.3 percent of all jobs in Dana Point are sustained by tourism, generating $195.5 million in income. Tourism accounts for $487.1 million in visitor spending and $600.5 million in total business sales, including indirect and induced impacts. 

Located directly between Los Angeles and San Diego, Dana Point is a stunning Southern California coastal destination, home to a variety of luxury resorts, including DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Doheny Beach; Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa; Monarch Beach Resort; and The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel.
