The Oscar of the travel industry for the World’s Leading Travel Social Network goes to WAYN.
WAYN wins World’s Leading Travel Social Network at the World Travel Awards 2012, which has been heralded as “the Oscar’s of the travel industry” by the Wall Street Journal. The awards were held in New Delhi last night with WAYN nominated alongside Couchsurfing, Dopplr, Gogobot, TripIt, Tripping, Trippy, tripwolf and VirtualTourist
The World Travel Awards were launched in 1993 to acknowledge and recognise excellence in the global travel and tourism industry. Now celebrating its 19th anniversary, it is regarded as the very highest achievement a travel product can receive.
The win tops off a hugely successful month for WAYN having won the Most Popular & Best Website at The Website of the Year Awards 2012 in the UK and India, as well as announcing amulti-million pound partnership with India Today Group.
The awards are voted for by professionals working within travel and tourism – senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators and travel agents. Since 2009, voting has also been opened to the public to reflect the growing role that WTA plays in influencing how people make their travel decisions.
