Austin’s Heywood Hotel earns one Michelin Key in inaugural award class

Heywood Hotel

The Heywood Hotel in Austin, Texas, has been awarded one Michelin Key in the 2024 Michelin Guide, recognizing its exceptional boutique hospitality and strong local connections.

AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Michelin Guide announced that the Heywood Hotel, in Austin, Texas, has earned one Michelin Key in the prestigious Michelin Guide 2024. Michelin Keys highlight the very best hotels around the world, those offering the most outstanding stays. Only 293 hotels in the U.S. have been awarded Michelin Keys in 2024, the first year of the Guide’s expansion to include lodging establishments. The Heywood Hotel is proud to join this distinguished group, demonstrating its exceptional quality and commitment to providing unparalleled guest experiences. With only seven rooms, the Heywood Hotel offers an authentically local and exclusive boutique hotel experience. The Hotel supports Austin artists and businesses in its amenities, artwork, and concierge recommendations, ensuring each stay is as memorable as the Live Music Capital of Texas itself.

Kathy Setzer, Owner of the Heywood Hotel said, “Thank you to Michelin for recognizing our small, independent hotel. We are delighted to be part of this prestigious family and congratulate the other hotels who received this distinction. This recognition is a reflection of our entire team’s commitment and care in welcoming our guests to our hotel and our city. Each day, we take great pride in helping guests discover and experience “A perfect 24 hours in Austin.”

The Heywood Hotel has carved out a reputation for delivering one of the most distinctive and immersive hotel experiences in North America. Local influence is evident throughout the hotel – from the artwork on the walls to the local music playing in the background, every detail honors the city’s creativity and independent spirit. Designed by local architects and artisans, the hotel’s style reflects Austin’s artistic vibe. In a city known for its talent, this approach feels right at home. Recognition from Forbes Magazine as the “Best Hotel in Austin for Local Flavor” and being highlighted by The New York Times as one of the top three hotels in their “36 Hours in Austin” feature further cement the Heywood Hotel as the quintessential Austin boutique experience, with genuine charm. Further recent accolades the Heywood Hotel has received include being named MSN.com’s “Best Independent Hotel in Texas,” achieving a coveted spot in Travel Leisure’s “30 Best Things to Do in Austin, Texas,” and being recognized by Time Out Magazine as the “#1 Boutique Hotel in Austin, Texas”.

Earlier this year, the Heywood Hotel made the strategic decision to partner with Sincere Hospitality to oversee the management of the award-winning boutique hotel. This partnership reflects both organization’s commitment to enhancing the guest experience and ensuring that the hotel continues to operate with the highest level of service and attention to detail.

“Being recognized for excellence is always an honor, but the Heywood Hotel receiving a prestigious award like the Michelin Key is truly remarkable,” says Danielle Schneider, CEO of Sincere Hospitality. “At the Heywood, the staff is dedicated to delivering exceptional service every day. This level of recognition reinforces that commitment, and we could not be more proud.”
