Michelin expands its prestigious awards to hotels, introducing the “Michelin Keys” with ten hotels represented by WEILL receiving a total of twenty keys.
NEW YORK – For decades, the august Michelin organization has been awarding stars to the best restaurants in the world, with chefs celebrating or mourning as the annual ratings are released. Now, the organization is adding a rating for the best hotels in a variety of countries, awarding them one, two or three Michelin Keys. “I have been collecting and swooning over Michelin guides since I was a kid,” says WEILL President, Geoffrey Weill, “and I am delighted that ten hotels we represent have been awarded a total of twenty keys.”
WEILL clients awarded the ultimate three Michelin Keys are the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt and Schloss Elmau in Germany; and in Thailand, The Siam in Bangkok and Soneva Kiri on Ko Kood island. Two-star awardees include The Merrion Hotel and Sheen Falls Lodge in Ireland, as well as the Beau-Rivage Palace and Lausanne Palace hotels in Switzerland. Hotels awarded one key include Germany’s Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, Italy’s Hassler Roma, and the Hotel Palafitte in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
