The National Bank of Greece is ready to announce a rise in foreign exchange for the January-June period of 2000 to the tune of some 5,77 percent. Most tourism fronts show that there was an increase in the degree of tourism exchange in the first half of last year and thus a level of optimism has been expressed by officials that this figure will only rise in 2001. Some of the chief reasons for this optimism include an increase in the inflow of tourists which is expected to rise even more in 2001, the overall image of the Greek economy in the post Euro-zone period, the fair climate that is almost guaranteed. Other reasons that are attractive certainly include better transport methods such as the metro, the new airport at Spata as well as many new tourism facilities and services.
