Launch of new travel metasearch for US market

Travelpayouts spin-off for the consumer market is to offer cheap flights with cashback.

Travelpayouts, a digital partnership platform, is to launch its first consumer-focused service – named ‘WayAway’ – to help US travelers get cheap flights with cashback.

For a decade,Travelpayouts has been a B2B solution offering travel brands a marketplace to get distribution and monetization via an affiliate model. The platform has over 300,000 affiliate partners worldwide and more than 90 travel advertisers, including Booking.com, BlaBlaCar, GetYourGuide, Viator, and others.

With its new project, Travelpayouts steps into the US consumer market. ‘WayAway’ itself works as a flight aggregator that provides travelers with the best rates on airline tickets – and will be available as both on desktops and via an app. Its innovative search finds the best option for specific travel dates by comparing airfares offered by all major US and global airlines and OTAs.

But there is more. Following the subscription economy trend, the company will introduce a paid-membership plan called ‘WayAway Plus’ to get cashback reimbursement for all travel deals.

To create WayAway, we leveraged years of experience in travel tech”  Ivan Baidin, the Chief Executive of Travelpayouts, says. “We’ve been in this business for years, helping travel content creators monetize their blogs and applications. There are always commissions and incentives behind the displayed price, so we decided to share these perks with travelers when they need them the most”.

‘WayAway Plus’ members can benefit from cashback for all travel-related purchases such as airline tickets, hotel bookings, rental cars and other services. Travelpayouts will open-up dozens of offers previously available only to travel professionals for ‘WayAway Plus’ subscribers.

Among our very first deals, we have cashback provided by well-known brands including Booking.com, Rentalcars, Viator and others.” Baidin adds. “For instance, users can get up to 5 percent off airfares, up to 10 percent off hotels, up to 5 percent off rental cars and up to 7 percent off tours and activities.”

The cashback available for ‘WayAway Plus' members has nothing to do with discounts, loyalty program points and other marketing tricks: when the journey is completed, users can withdraw money using PayPal.

We understand that price comparison alone wouldn't be enough in such a competitive market as travel search is in the US. So we decided to spice it up with the feature Travelpayouts does the best. At a time when the annual increase in airfares is the largest since 1980, cashback for all travel deals will be truly helpful in preparation for the summer holiday season. And will help us stand out against behemoth companies in the US travel scene”.  Baidin concludes.

WayAway’s monetization is based on a revenue share model and a membership plan.
