Major tourism concerns share technology

Major European<.> Union tourism concerns meet in Brussels on November 12 to exchange ideas and experiences in the field of new technology. The conference, organized by the EU, also promises to present future research needs and proposals for tourism in light of the 5th EU program for research and technical development.
Outgoing Commissioner Christos Papoutsis said the conference is the first step toward the strengthening of cooperation among member-countries and their tourism industries.
"The wider use of new technological information in the tourism industry," he said, "will increase the sector's competitiveness, guide it toward the creation of improved products and better services to customers, and give less-known and smaller destinations the possibility to better promote themselves on an international basis."
