Interactive digital television technology bringing revolutionary changes to in-room entertainment and information facilities for hotel guests will be given a Middle East debut when the region's leading hotel supplies exhibition opens in Dubai today May 20.

Taking place at the Airport Expo in Dubai (May 20-22), The Hotel Show<.> will also reveal the unique sound system, which can do for hotel banquet halls and auditoriums what it has already done for the Sistine Chapel in Rome and New York's Madison Square Garden.

With 180 exhibitors from 27 countries assembling in Dubai, along with hotel developers and owners from across the region, Prodac Media AG, specialists in the field of multimedia system connections for hotel TV, is using the event to boost its position in the Middle East, having firmly established itself as a European market-leader.

The company will introduce interactive communications systems that allow hotels to design their own information pages, which are then sent via an antenna system to be viewed by guests on their in-room TV sets.

Additionally, new entertainment products such as sports videos, and up-to-date news and music clips are opening up entirely new dimensions in video communications.

"Prodac digital technology is going to bring about revolutionary changes in the hotel industry," says Thomas Reupke, General Manager of Prodac Media AG, Middle East.

"Never before have hotels been able to cater to their guests' needs in such a modern and flexible manner. In the Middle East, where hotel guests value 'infotainment' highly, these new interactive systems are in demand."

In another high-tech boost for the hospitality business, Bose Corporation Middle East will introduce the award winning Auditioner system, a unique new design tool allowing engineers to hear what banquet halls, hotel lobbies, restaurants, and auditoriums will sound like, even before they are constructed.

The Bose Auditioner Technology was used to engineer sound at landmarks like the Burj Al Arab, the Sistine Chapel, and Madison Square Garden. "Every year, the UAE adds several new premium hotel properties to its existing tourism infrastructure," said John Dodson, Country Manager, Bose Middle East. "We see a huge requirement in this segment for our products, and will launch several new technologies at The Hotel Show."

Joanne Evans, director of Streamline Marketing, organisers of The Hotel Show, said: "The exhibition provides a great opportunity for suppliers of all hotel products and services to make an impression on the Middle East hospitality industry which this year has access to a particularly exciting and diverse range of exhibitors."

The Hotel Show takes place under the patronage of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Minister of Defence and Chairman of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. Running alongside the event for the first time will be the Office Exhibition, giving office supplies a valuable introduction to the rapidly expanding Middle East office development sector.
