Travelstart have re-launched their mobile flight booking app called Flapp. Short for 'Flight App', Flapp launched in 2015 as the world's first single route flight booking app. Version one of Flapp was designed to facilitate end-to-end flight bookings between Johannesburg and Cape Town only, with a commuter-friendly booking window of just 7 days. Flapp was well-received by commuters on the busy air travel route, however, the feedback from users was: Why can’t you book flights longer than 7 days in advance? When will I be able to book other cities on Flapp?

The team at Travelstart decided to take Flapp back to the drawing board, expanded its capabilities and re-launched it this month. They have kept the app’s ease of use, upgraded features (such as the ability to book travel insurance within the app), and most importantly, the content available to book has been broadened to include all airlines and airports in the world.
How to Flapp
Now ‘Flappers’ can search, book and pay for flights to anywhere in the world, any time. In just a few taps users can find the best fares on domestic and international flights across multiple airlines in seconds and then select useful services they’d like to add to their booking, such as flexi tickets or travel insurance. Flappers are able to create an account with their passenger information as well as securely store credit card details which speeds up the booking process. Post-booking a Flapper simply needs to watch their email inbox for the flight confirmation.
Mobile First
Travelstart recognises the importance of mobile in ecommerce, particularly in Africa, and one could say Flapp is the flagship result of the travel tech company’s “mobile first” mind-set.
