The Bergen Tourist Board is the common body for promoting the city of Bergen and shall at all times deal with the joint activities on behalf of the destination and the trade and achieve the goals according to the strategies stated in the marketing plan.

Through joint and coordinated efforts the Bergen Tourist Board shall develop the total product Bergen, to generate positive expansion and development for the good of the members, employers and the society.

Main goal
The Bergen Tourist Board shall contribute to an increase of visitors to Bergen, and via product coordination give them a positive experience. Simulate and strengthen the members’ profitability and ability to compete through information and profiling domestically and internationally.


  • Strengthen the profile & branding
    The Bergen Profile was launched in September 2000, and is incorporated in all we do
  • Increase the guests’ satisfaction
    Bergen Tourist Information Centre and service
  • Expand the summer season
    Offering assistance and giving incentives to tour operators
  • Increase traffic off season
    Different projects and direct mails, advertising etc.
  • Inform the trade about the changes in the market
    Information meetings, councils and committies
  • Hosting Tour Operators and Press
    In 2003: Tour Operators: 545 pax on 423 companies. Press: 380 pax on 234 media.
  • Develop new areas and segments
    Technical Visits, organised study tours for groups from different trades, incorporated in a system
  • Increase the understanding for the work we do
    Inform our members, the politicians and the general public about the importance of the travel trade
