Jean Collette, Chair of ACTA, has appointed Christiane Theberge to the position of President of the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA), effective December 18, 2006. In that capacity, Ms. Theberge will report to ACTA’s Board of Directors.
Ms. Theberge joined ACTA as Vice-President, Public Affairs, in 2003. From 2000 to 2003, she worked for the Societe d’implantation du centre hospitalier de l’Universite de Montreal (SICHUM) as Vice-President, Public Affairs. From 1998 to 2000, she held the position of Senior Director, Public Affairs, at the Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec (CDP) and from 1996 to 1998 she acted as Chief of Staff for the Mayor of Montreal.
Prior to that she had founded and managed her own event-planning company and has also been involved in a number of administrative councils for social, cultural and sport-oriented community organizations and has traveled the world both for work and leisure.
Ms. Theberge has a Master of Business Administration and has extensive experience in human resources management, government relations, marketing and advertising as well as publishing. Her many talents have enabled her to develop an extensive network of contacts in the tourism industry. This network allows her to stay current with all industry issues in the national and international arenas.
ACTA’s mission is to serve as the focal point for the retail travel services industry, by pooling ideas and resources into initiatives designed to create and maintain a healthy business and legislative environment in which the industry can thrive.
Ms. Theberge succeeds Jean Collette, who was Interim President in addition to his position as Chair of the Association.
