Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has set up a worldwide sales office in Dubai headed by Shaker Akbar, who was recently appointed Regional Director of Sales – Middle East. Formerly Director of Marketing at Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh, Akbar`s role is to coordinate the Toronto based luxury hotel and resort group`s sales and marketing efforts in the Middle East, as well as assist its worldwide sales operation.
The presence of an office in Dubai further underlines Four Seasons ongoing commitment to the region, which began in May 2000 with the opening of its first property, Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at First Residence. The group has since opened six hotels across the Middle East – a resort in Sharm El Sheikh and hotels in Amman, Riyadh, a second Cairo property and the latest addition to the expanding portfolio, Four Seasons Hotel Doha, which opened on April 23. Four Seasons Hotel Damascus is scheduled to open in the last quarter of this year.
Dubai is a strategic hub for Four Seasons Middle East activities, said Akbar. With six new properties currently under construction in the region, including Four Seasons Hotel and Golf Resort Dubai at Festival City, due to open within the next two years, and others on the drawing board, our new worldwide sales office will forge an important link in the region`s activities. We will also be coordinating with other Four Seasons` worldwide offices in Europe, North America and the Far East, he said, adding: Currently the group operates 66 hotels in 29 countries.
Four Seasons first established a regional sales presence in Bahrain in early 2003. That office will continue to function as a strategic support to our extended efforts here in Dubai, Akbar continued.
