The Al Bustan Palace, Intercontinental Muscat and Crowne Plaza Muscat have successfully completed a ‘Pathways’ development centre training program that was organised and held at the Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat in September 2006.

A selection of Managers and Supervisors from all three hotels under the management of the InterContinental Hotel Group in Oman attended the training program that was facilitated by Liz Regan, Area Training Manager for Africa, and Simon Manohar, Area Organisation Development Manager for Oman.

Simon Manohar, Area Organisation Development Manager (Oman) said: “The primary objective of this Pathways Development Program was to identify, assess and develop a group of managers that have all demonstrated great potential for future roles as the head of their respective departments within the InterContinental Hotels Group.”

During the program, the participants were assessed by a panel of senior and experienced managers ranging from Executive Assistant Managers, Area Managers to HR Directors; on a number of exercises designed to bring out behaviours on specific company competencies.

Based on the observations, feedback was given to all the participants on areas of strength and areas for improvement. Accordingly, each participant received career and personal development assistance, and will continue to receive guidance from Pathways development centre mentors.

Mr. Manohar added: “Pathways is part of the Intercontinental Hotels Group commitment to employee development. We are delighted that more than half of the participants this year were Omani; a clear indication of the high calibre of local Omani talent currently working as professionals within the Sultanate.”

More than half of the managers and supervisors attending were Omani Nationals.
