From the 24th April millions of Airmiles collectors will benefit from a massive reduction in fares to its top 20 destinations including Paris, Rome and New York. The fares, some of which have been cut by up to  40%, have also been guaranteed to enable collectors to always know how far their miles will take them.

Airmiles` new guaranteed pricing and revised brand will cut through the challenges of dynamic pricing and strengthen its position as the UK`s leading travel reward scheme. The changes are also expected to add significant value to Airmiles` 8 million strong customer base, and its numerous collection partners including: NatWest, Shell, Tesco, Scottish & Southern Energy, Avis and Travelex.

The new guaranteed fares mean that customers will know exactly how many Airmiles they will need to reach their destination and these rates will not change from one day to the next. This will make it easier for AIRMILES collectors to assess the true value of their Airmiles and plan their reward in advance.

The changes are being introduced following Airmiles` research showing that consumers are confused by the dynamic pricing of flights, where the cost of tickets for a particular route depends on when the booking is actually made. This new, simplified deal is designed to reinvigorate the proposition so that more shoppers start to collect, and more Airmilesmembers start to redeem a wider variety of flight and holiday deals.

The new fares will be available on flights to 20 of the UK`s favourite global destinations including Dublin, Madrid and Sydney, with discounts on some routes worth in excess of 40% of the current average price. A return flight to Nice, for example, would have cost around 1,002 Airmiles, but under the new scheme it has been reduced to only 600. With Airmiles partners offering earn rates as high as 1 Airmile for every £1 spent, collectors can quickly qualify for romantic breaks or family adventures as far afield as Vienna and Marrakech.

Brian Southward, Airmiles Director of Partnerships, comments: “Travel continues to be a highly valuable reward for consumer spending and these latest changes will make the collection of Airmiles more popular than ever. We remain highly competitive and have recently widened the scope of our travel reward scheme to include travel as a collection opportunity with a number of major tour operators, as well as new deals with over 80 online shopping partners.”

“We know that the battle amongst loyalty businesses will be won by those offering genuine value and delivering rewards people actually want. Clever shoppers realise that they must focus on one reward scheme if they wish to maximise the return from their high street spend. We believe that travel is the best value reward in the loyalty market, and that Airmiles offers the very best deal.”
