Leading global meetings, incentive travel and events exhibition, IMEX, has announced a new partnership with Star Alliance, the airline network for Earth. The partnership appoints Star Alliance as IMEX’s Official Airline Network and means that visitors and exhibitors to the benchmark trade show in Frankfurt, Germany, this May will be able to benefit from flight discounts from around the world. The deal also expands the IMEX long-haul hosted buyer programme with many of the member airlines bringing in key clients from around the world, including United, Singapore Airlines, THAI and SAS (Scandinavian Airlines).

The new deal applies to flights with 13 of Star Alliance Network’s 16 global carriers and gives IMEX visitors and exhibitors flying from the US, Canada, Asia, Scandinavia and much of Europe a chance to considerably reduce their travel costs. With many of IMEX’s European and US exhibitors increasing their stand spaces for 2006, this offer is certain to be warmly welcomed by exhibiting countries and their hundreds of stand partners.

Speaking about the appointment, Ray Bloom, IMEX Chairman, says, “The entire Star Alliance Network carriers offer 15,000 departures to 790 destinations in 138 countries every day. This new partnership gives even more weight to our reputation as a truly global exhibition and, of course, it delivers attractive bottom line savings for our visitors and exhibitors. It is one of our goals that, wherever possible, we make people’s ‘total experience’ of IMEX an enjoyable, productive and good value one. We are delighted to be working with such an established and professional organisation as Star Alliance.”

The IMEX deal will apply on published business and economy class fares on flights operated by Star Alliance member carriers participating in the deal, excluding web and internet offers and some other specific flight offers. Discounts will apply to all IMEX registered visitors and exhibitors plus one other person travelling with them. The deal will be valid on all fares booked between 1st March and 30th June inclusive.

The 13 airlines in the Star Alliance Network offering the IMEX discounts are: Air Canada, ANA, Asiana, Austrian, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Spanair, TAP Portugal, THAI, United and VARIG.

Star Alliance will be supporting this new partnership with additional presence at the trade show where they will be taking a stand for the first time. It will be alongside that of IMEX’s Official Airline Partner, Lufthansa, also part of the Star Alliance Network.
