Rail Europe records historical results for 2011

Rail Europe announced its 2011 results, which once again confirm the dynamism and leadership of the company, #1 distributor of train tickets and rail passes in the world. Following an outstanding +34% performance in 2010, Rail Europe’s 2011 sales are up by +28%. While turnover reaches 175 million euros, more than 2 million travellers have chosen to ride with Rail Europe in 2011.

With a 28% increase, The Middle East Markets continued its dazzling progression to reinforce Rail Europe position in the region.

"Our results are more than excellent, considering the global economic context", says Waleed Ahmed Regional Manager of Rail Europe Middle East. "2011 has been an intense year, where we consolidated our technological advance, developed strategic partnerships and further strengthened our commercial and marketing presence. We are now more than ever ready to face 2012’s new challenges, in a very competitive environment".

2011 – The year in review

– Rail Europe developed and launched an online breaking website for travel trade across the Middle East (http://agents.raileurope-gcc.com).
This online portal includes a wide range of train tickets and passes worldwide with availability of booking based on commission basis.
– Rail Europe’s Support Centre (in Mumbai, India) to improve the service offered to Rail Europe partners and clients
– Launch of a multi-carrier "Print @ Home" ticketing platform, which allows travel agents to issue, until the last minute, and from the same distribution system, E-tickets for varied train operators including TGV, Eurostar and Thalys
– Signature of a direct distribution agreement with Renfe, the national Railways of Spain, allowing Rail Europe to sell Renfe’s most attractive fares, thanks to a direct connection between the companies’ distribution systems

2012 is for Rail Europe another promising year. Online tools (Web Services & Rail booking Engine©) will deliver their full potential, while qualitative marketing activities and tactical promotions will support the growth. The company also indicated that major announcements concerning its distribution and product range should be made in the coming weeks.

Altogether, the previous initiatives taken by Rail Europe and the improvement of the European rail timetable introduced on 11th December 2011 (with for instance the new France-Italy offer, Thello for night services and France-Italy TGV for day services, of which Rail Europe is one of the first distributor…) should guarantee Rail Europe a brilliant year 2012.
