Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE) has formed a major alliance with Brazil to consider establishing an important new meetings, incentive and business travel event for Latin America.

The alliance, which has taken two years of discussions with the Associacao Brasileira de Agencias de Viagens (ABAV), the Brazilian Travel Agents Association, is supported by Brazil`s tourism authority Embratur and the Brazilian Government.

Mr. Tom Nutley, Chairman of RTE said that he was delighted about the partnership with Brazil which opens a new and promising chapter in the development of the meetings and incentive industry.

Our first task is to undertake comprehensive independent research to understand exactly what the market needs and requires in developing the meetings and incentive industry in Latin America.

Should the results be positive, the event will become part of RTE`s formidable and growing list of international and regional meetings and incentive events, the largest specialist portfolio of its kind in the world.

This includes EIBTM, its flagship global meetings and incentive event and the leading established exhibition of its kind in the world, which in November 2004 moves to Barcelona, Spain from Geneva, Switzerland; AIME, the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo, held in February in Melbourne, Australia, now in its 12th year; Asia Business Travel Market (ABTM), taking place in Shanghai, Greater China in September and the ICCA Exhibition, in conjunction with the association`s annual congress in Busan, Korea in October.

In conjunction with ABAV and its significant resources and expertise, we hope to be able to move quickly to establish a new meetings and incentive exhibition in Brazil which clearly has great potential for future growth.

Rick Still, RTE`s Industry Vice President for the Americas said It`s clear that Latin America has huge opportunities for the meetings and incentive industry but currently the needs of buyers and sellers are not being met by a dedicated specialist event.

We now have to understand exactly what is required, and when, in order to make a final decision.

Eduardo Sandovicz, President of Embratur said: I am personally very excited about the potential new business this will create for Latin America. The timing could not be better as Latin America looks to lead the region in the endorsement of our world famous hospitality industry.
