Following the successful launch of Travdex@ITB at the ITB Berlin 2006 the conference for international travel technology experts enters a new dimension at the ITB Berlin 2007 with a completely revised concept and a change of name. Now known as PhoCusWright@ITB it will be taking place next year from 7 to 9 March.

The speakers will include Esteban Walther, Head of Travel for Google Europe, Tim Frankcom, General Manager, Yahoo!/Kelkoo Travel Europe, Dr. Thomas Gerteis, CEO of Global Media GmbH, Marc Charron, Managing Director Europe, TripAdvisor, and Michael Ohm, Managing Director of TUI InfoTec GmbH. A roundtable on the subject of “How do hotels influence their distribution costs?” will address the question: What is the best distribution mix and how can hoteliers control costs with an increasing number of online bookings? In the keynote on “Which hotel distribution systems will prevail? PMSs and CRSs wrestle for control of distribution” participants will discuss the new role that property management systems and computer reservation systems are assuming for the benefit of hoteliers.

This event will include a summary of the market research findings for individual countries of the “European Online Travel Overview”, for the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain and Italy. One of the new features will be the pre-convention on 7 March, dealing with the latest strategies for search engine optimization and marketing, applied to all areas of the travel trade. Search marketing is much more than just optimizing pages and buying keywords. This session will discuss emerging innovations in this field and will be presented by Danny Sullivan of Third Door Media.

The structure of the two-day program has been substantially improved. Day one sessions will be repeated on day two, and registration includes both days, giving participants greater flexibility when planning their appointments at the ITB Berlin and ensuring that they do not miss any of the invaluable content. For the first time the conference will be accompanied by an exhibition, taking a concentrated look at the technology involved. The conference and exhibition occupy the whole of Hall 7.1b, covering twice the area of the previous year’s event.
