At ENTER 2014, taking place between January 21-24, 2014 significant attention will be paid to the application of information and communication technologies by tourism destinations, forming one of the focus topics of the annual conference.
The ENTER 2014 Conference, which is organised by the International Federation for Information Technology and Travel and Tourism (IFITT) offers a worldwide and unique forum for attendees from academia, industry, government, and other organisations to actively exchange, share, and challenge state-of-the-art research and industrial case studies on the application of information and communication technologies to travel and tourism. One of the three main themes at ENTER 2014 will be the destination focus where academics and practitioners will discuss the latest issues in the application of information and communication technologies by tourism destinations.
The destination focus will consist of four presentation sessions taking place throughout the conference. These sessions will cover the themes of ‘New Approaches to Digital Content’, Creativity and Innovation in DMOs’ Digital (Marketing) Communications’, ‘Digital Landscape Across Asia’ and ‘DMO Innovation Case Studies’. All presentations will be given by representatives from well-known technology and destination marketing organisations, such as by Anna Skrzypek from Yahoo! talking about ‘Compelling Content and Immersive Brand Experiences to Keep Destinations Relevant in a Changing Digital Landscape’, Miquel Alabern Nebot from the Catalan Tourist Board introducing the topic ‘Sharing the Success of Instagram -Engaging the Travelling Community’ and Catherine Fischer from the German National Tourist Board (GNTB), presenting ‘German Youth Hotspots – Engaging the Youth Market through a New Approach to PR’. The programme including all speakers and their presentation topics can be found here.
IFITT President Dimitrios Buhalis says: “In the past 20 years we have seen destinations increasingly making the use of and benefiting from ICT’s. We are looking forward to hearing about and learning from exciting case studies from destinations that have found innovative cutting-edge technology solutions to support travellers in their experience.”
