DoubleTree by Hilton announces third Mexican hotel development deal

Hilton Worldwide has signed a franchise development deal with GS Consorcio Hotelero S.A. de C.V. for the DoubleTree by Hilton Queretaro. The four-story, new-build property, scheduled to open in Q2 2011, is anticipated to be the first DoubleTree by Hilton hotel to open in Mexico, followed by additional locations opening later this year in Merida and Mexico City.

“The DoubleTree by Hilton Queretaro is another fine example of our efforts to expand the Hilton Worldwide portfolio of brands throughout Mexico,” commented George Massa, vice president and managing director, development – Mexico, Hilton Worldwide. “This latest agreement represents a growing interest in the DoubleTree by Hilton brand by hotel developers in Mexico, as evidenced by this third hotel development anticipated to welcome the world’s travelers during 2011. And we are pleased to being doing so with such reputable hospitality professionals.”

The DoubleTree By Hilton Queretaro will be conveniently situated within walking distance of the Queretaro Convention Center and the world-renowned La Correigidora football stadium. The Industrial Park El Marquez, Industrial Park Bernardo Quintana, Downtown and Cerro de las Campanas are all within a 10-minute drive. Despite its small size, the State of Queretaro offers many interesting cultural and natural attractions, thanks to its diverse geography and to its crucial role in Mexican history. Three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a Pueblo Magico (Bernal), the first vineyards in America at Tequisquiapan, as well as beautiful haciendas and lush natural scenery are only part of what visitors may enjoy when staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Queretaro.

With more than 240 hotels and resorts in 17 countries, DoubleTree by Hilton introduces travelers to the brand’s longstanding tradition of distinctively designed hotels that reflect their destination. Other DoubleTree by Hilton characteristic qualities include the warm worldwide welcome of the brand’s legendary chocolate chip cookie to every guest at check-in, the rewards of the prestigious Hilton HHonors loyalty program and a unique caring commitment to the communities in which they operate. The DoubleTree by Hilton Queretaro will feature 100 guestrooms, a business centre, a health club and a meeting room.

Rob Palleschi, global head for DoubleTree by Hilton hotels, commented, “This latest DoubleTree by Hilton development in Queretaro represents another positive step in our brand’s growth in Latin America and the Caribbean, joining DoubleTree by Hilton hotels and resorts now open in Peru, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico. With further development plans confirmed in Mexico and Panama, along with more than 240 additional hotels welcoming guests in locations across the globe, the potential benefits for owners and developers of current and new-build hotels to become affiliated with Hilton Worldwide and the DoubleTree by Hilton brand have never been greater.”

Hilton Worldwide currently has a portfolio of 22 hotels and resorts open and welcoming travelers in Mexico under the Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton brands. The company has eight hotels currently in development under the DoubleTree by Hilton, Hampton by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn brands. The company is actively pursuing additional growth opportunities throughout Mexico.
