Carlos Vogeler, vice president, Cendant Leisure Real Estate Solutions (CLRES), has been elected UNWTO chairman of affiliate members at the recent 16th General Assembly of the UNWTO in Dakar, Senegal.
The UNWTO is the United Nations agency for tourism. It is comprised of 150 countries and more than 300 affiliate members representing the private sector, including educational institutions, international corporations, business associations, destination management organizations and other entities related with tourism. As chairman, Vogeler’s key objective will be to strengthen the links between public and private sectors within the world tourism industry.
“It is an honor to be elected UNWTO chairman of affiliate members,” said Vogeler. “I believe that UNWTO offers an excellent platform to work on the future sustainable development of global travel and tourism.” Vogeler has spent the majority of his professional life working within the tourism industry and has worked with the UNWTO since 1992.
As vice president of CLRES, the consultancy arm of the Cendant Vacation Network Group, Vogeler leads the global industry relations operation. He is also a professor in the department of business economics at the University Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid.
