Russell Adams, provider of integrated business software to the aviation industry, is expanding its Dubai-based regional operation on the back of a continuing boom in the region’s aviation sector. The company is expanding the workforce at its Dubai Internet City office, set up five years ago, by 50 per cent. Over recent months it has won a series of major contracts to supply specialist software to aviation clients including new low-cost long-haul airline Oasis Hong Kong Airlines, helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter France and HM The Sultan of Brunei’s royal flight.

Russell Adams has developed a suite of software called the ‘enterprise:range’, which is built on the latest Microsoft.NET technology and designed to support airlines, special flight operators, aircraft maintenance companies, flight training organisations and defence operators.

The software’s capabilities include managing fleet and crew, scheduling maintenance of aircraft and equipment, overseeing inventory and logistics requirements and carrying out a range of tasks vital to the management of HR and staff training, quality & documentation and finance.

As part of its strategy for regional growth Russell Adams participated in the recent Aviation Procurement Expo (APEX), which took place Abu Dhabi. The event, organised by Streamline Marketing Group, was launched to support the development of the Emirate as one of the world’s most sophisticated aviation gateways.

APEX featured a major conference focusing on procurement issues facing modern airlines as well as an exhibition of top aviation suppliers, including Russell Adams, which allowed procurement specialists from Abu Dhabi’s principle aviation companies, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) and the Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (GAMCO) to view, test and procure new products, services and technologies on their doorstep.

Russell Adams’ new General Manager, Paul Saunders, who has been brought in from the UK office to guide the company’s expansion in the Middle East, said that Russell Adams’ participation in APEX was important to its plans to build a presence in Abu Dhabi.

“The Emirate will be an important aviation hub of the future and the event allowed us to form valuable contacts with Abu Dhabi aviation officials and promote our services,” he said. “The aviation industry in the region is expanding at a great rate with an increasing number of air operators setting up, which presents tremendous opportunities for Russell Adams to continue our growth.”

Other recent contract wins for Russell Adams include provision of ‘enterprise:range’ modules to Sky Air World, a start-up charter airline based in Australia, JetX Limited, an Icelandic air operator, and AVISA Aviation Safety Systems Limited, a company specialising in providing air safety services and fleet technical support.
