Sports fans who can`t make it to Athens, Greece, for the Olympic Games can still get a sense of the spirit of friendly competition at Changi Airport.



Changi Airport is celebrating the Olympic spirit with its own Changi Games. The aim is simple – to bring a slice of the sporting event of the year to the 80 thousand travellers who use Changi Airport everyday.



Travellers can be connected to the world and world events at Changi Airport. We are not only the place for travellers to catch connecting flights to Athens, we are also the airport that bring the Olympic buzz to travellers, said Director of Airport Management, Mr Yam Kum Weng, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.



To fuel the Olympic fever and keep travellers well-informed, news on the latest results, happenings and personalities from Athens will be beamed live at various locations within Changi Airport.



Travellers with some time on their hands can also display their sporting prowess by taking part in long jump, archery, soccer and basketball games. The best performers will walk away with specially-designed Changi Medals and other Olympic memorabilia.



Travellers can even pit their skills against one another in the Winners` Games segment by competing in Olympic trivial quizzes and weight-lifting games. Winners can earn attractive shopping vouchers that will let them sweat it out at Changi Airport`s over 100 retail and 50 food & beverage outlets.



But there`s also something for the couch sports fan. They can watch energetic performances by award-winning Singapore Cheerobics Teams, Wushu Masters, Taekwondo Aerobics and Silat Teams. Travellers can also take part in the Time to Shop! promotion and stand a chance to win watches from the commemorative Swatch Olympic collection.



Changi Games runs from 5th to 29th August 2004.



Changi Airport currently connects travellers to Athens via Singapore Airlines, four times weekly.
