US Airways added an eighth destination in Canada by inaugurating new, daily year-round service from its trans-Atlantic gateway at Philadelphia International Airport to Quebec City, Quebec, one of the oldest and most picturesque cities in Canada.
"US Airways customers and members of the Philadelphia community and surrounding areas continue to benefit from our development of our northeast hub with this new service to beautiful Quebec City," said Suzanne Boda, US Airways’ senior vice president of airport customer service, international and cargo. "Customers traveling from Quebec City will now have access to 111 domestic and international destinations through Philadelphia, where US Airways has expanded its service to 456 peak day departures."
"We are truly enthusiastic about the arrival of US Airways at our airport. Gaining access to a major hub like Philadelphia is a great addition to the connecting flights offered from Quebec City. With this new addition, our passengers now have access to four Star Alliance members, including US Airways," said Gaetan Gagne, Aeroport de Quebec’s President and CEO.
The new flights bring the number of international destinations US Airways serves from its Philadelphia hub to 36 – 17 cities in Europe/Middle East, 14 in Latin America/the Caribbean and 5 destinations in Canada. Last month, the airline reinstated seasonal summer service from Philadelphia to Athens, Greece; Glasgow, Scotland; Lisbon, Portugal; and Venice, Italy. Seasonal summer service to Barcelona, Spain, began in March.
