Lebanon`s first Crowne Plaza<.> hotel is rapidly emerging as a striking new landmark at the heart of a revival of business and night life in one of Beirut`s trendiest districts.

Opening in October, the Crowne Plaza Beirut already stands tall and proud in Hamra Street, a bustling avenue of shopping arcades, offices, cinemas and restaurants, rebuilding its reputation as the city`s Champs Elysees.

The 21-floor hotel stands out as the area`s tallest building, and will offer guests splendid views down to Beirut`s Mediterranean seafront, while becoming an ideal base for business and leisure visits to the Lebanese capital, as well as an attractive new local gathering point.

Stretching on for more than a kilometre, the new-look Hamra Street has seen a steady increase in commercial activity matched by a return to the night scene of old. Guests at the Crowne Plaza Beirut will blend in easily to the street`s business and night scenes, which draw from nearby corporate headquarters, embassies, diplomatic and political residences, as well as the American University of Beirut.

This really is an ideal location for the entry of Crowne Plaza into Beirut, said Magdi Samman, sales and marketing director for Bass Hotels & Resorts` upscale brands in the Middle East and Africa.

The Crowne Plaza style, which is upmarket, and innovative in many respects, fits in ideally with the general make-up of Hamra Street, which is again becoming a great place for business, good quality shopping and dining, entertainment and night life.

The hotel will be an active and valuable new addition in all those areas, both for business and leisure guests, as well as the local community.

With a range of conference halls and restaurants, the Crowne Plaza Beirut also houses a cinema complex, as well as its own underground car park. A short stroll from the corniche, and just 15 minutes from Beirut International Airport, the hotel has 198 rooms, including 17 suites, the majority giving Mediterranean sea views

It will be the sixth Lebanese hotel managed by Bass Hotels & Resorts, joining the Phoenicia Inter-Continental, Le Vendome Inter-Continental, the Mzaar Inter-Continental Resort, the Holiday Inn Beirut Dunes and the Holiday Inn Beirut Martinez. The company currently operates a total of 115 hotels in the Middle East and Africa, including other Crowne Plaza properties in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Oman.
