Tenerife takes off: More destinations from Jet2.com

The first ever scheduled low cost flights direct to the year-round sunshine island of Tenerife take off from Leeds Bradford

The first ever scheduled low cost flights direct to the year-round sunshine island of Tenerife take off from Leeds Bradford . Demand has been so great that all seats on the inaugural flight are sold out and sales for future flights are booming.

Flights to the Canary Islands` hotspot operate three times a week – Tuesday, Friday and Sunday – and for the first time the airline will use its latest aircraft, the 228-seat Boeing 757.

Jet2.com now has eleven aircraft based at Leeds Bradford airport – nine 148-seat Boeing 737s and two 228-seat Boeing 757s.

Situated off the North Africa coastline, Tenerife has always been hugely popular with British travellers of all age groups keen to soak up year-round sun (it`s currently averaging 70F this week, compared to 59F in Yorkshire), cheap and plentiful nightlife and stunning scenery.

People of the region have been desperate for their favourite airline to fly to Tenerife. Jet2.com boss Philip Meeson, said: “We know that people in Yorkshire and beyond love to holiday in the Canary Islands, it is an incredibly popular part of the world. Sales have been overwhelming for Tenerife, it really is the destination everyone has been waiting for. Before the Jet2.com service launched, holidaymakers could not take advantage of affordable scheduled travel, meaning that they had to buy package holidays with little or no choice over what day of the week they flew and no flexibility on the duration of their stay. We are offering a service with flights starting from £51 one way, including taxes. It`s great news not just because of the competitive price, but also because it gives greater flexibility on the days of travel available. Furthermore, it opens up Tenerife for long weekend breaks, something which has never previously been possible from the region. I urge people to book now to avoid disappointment, it may be the cheapest way to stay warm this winter!”

Tenerife is best known for its year-round sunshine – hot in the summer and tantalisingly warm in the winter. The main resorts are Puerto de la Cruz in the North and the more fun-packed Playa de las Americas in the South of the island.

Holidaymakers looking for fun-in-the-sun breaks, with low-priced drinks, British pubs and traditional English cooked breakfasts will not be disappointed and should head for Playa de las Americas.
