The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) will be marking its 30th anniversary next year and invites its members and partners to a celebration of excellence with the introduction of its Canada-wide ATLAS Awards.
The purpose of the awards is to provide recognition, both official and public, of the outstanding work done by the travel community.
The five award categories are:
- Travel Professional of the Year
- Allied Member of the Year
- Personality of the Year
- Travel Agency of the Year
- The Ches Chard Award, created in memory of Ches Chard, who played a key role in the development of the industry’s education programs
A regional process will be put in place to select one finalist per region in each category, by next spring. The regional finalists will then take part in the ATLAS National Awards, with a panel selecting one winner in each category. The winners will receive ATLAS trophies at a gala held in Toronto next May to coincide with ACTA’s annual general meeting.
“ACTA wanted to mark its 30th anniversary in a special way, and what better way of celebrating than to involve its members and partners by recognizing their outstanding contributions. The travel industry is thriving, and travel has become a key component of our quality of life. That’s why we believe the time is right to introduce this recognition program and give it as much visibility as possible,” explained Christiane Theberge, ACTA’s President and CEO.
